TIMEMORE BLACK MIRROR DUO & KETTLE

BY TREMOR CHRIST

Timemore really are amazing for people who like minimalist, clean looks on their kitchen counter. What could be more on-trend than matte black gear that looks elegant, modern and clean. The footprint is also quite small considering all you need is to have your grinder (we recommend the Millab E01), and you're good to go.

These two items were tested thoroughly for 3 months, and we absolutely loved them. The positives and negatives can all be found below, but regardless of the process of having to be neutral, we can only say they are amazing products for the everyday home-brewer, and well priced.

The Positives - Scale

Fast and precise: Offers 0.1 g accuracy up to 2 kg with near-instant response—great for pour-over precision.

Auto-timer: Starts timing immediately upon pouring, no fumbling mid-flow.

USB-C charging & solid battery life: Rechargeable and thoughtfully designed.

Splash/water-resistant surface: Handles spills and stray drips well.

Adjustable dripper stand: Height-adjustable, rotatable stand locks in place—converts into a compact travel station.

Dual-scale technology: Separately measures water input and brew output, allowing real-time flow rate display and extraction tracking.

Recommended for extraction geeks: Great input/output measurements for people who want to nail their extraction.

The Negatives - Scale

No app connectivity: Read on-screen manually only —no digital logging or graphing.

Less intuitive for non-geeks: Can feel excessive for casual users.

Positives - Kettle

Precise pour control: Patented gooseneck spout with stable filtration delivers consistent flow, excellent for pour-over brewing.

Rapid heating: Heats quickly. 600 ml to ~88 °C in ~220 seconds.

High-quality build: Crafted from 304 food-grade stainless steel with boil-dry protection.

Stylish design: Minimalist aesthetic—sleek, compact, and visually appealing.

Strong performance at value: Competes with more expensive models (e.g., Fellow Stagg EKG) at a lower price.

Negatives - Kettle

Limited capacity: Only 600 ml—may require refills for multiple cups.

Touch slider interface quirks: James Hoffmann is not a fan of the touch control or slider, haha, but we didn't find it that bad.

Occasional precision issues: A few difficulties maintaining exact target temperatures or inconsistencies after heating.

Handle build: Slight flex or plastic feel; not as robust as higher-end competitors. However, the price dictates that of course.

Thoughts

A great duo for your kitchen counter. Perfect for pour-over enthusiasts who want to up their game and start making coffee as well as the local cafe.
