Timemore Black Mirror Mini

BENJAMIN SAND

Timemore are a company that seem to have an answer to every problem. The vast amount of scales on the market can make it quite difficult to decide which one will suit your needs, but this company alone make enough to give you a headache on which one to choose.

The reason we chose the Mini was of course for travelling. The slim design and compact size mean it can fit in any backpack and won't weigh more than a paperback book. Also the look is very stylish, with the matte-black exterior, a solid silicone mat for those dosing directly onto an espresso machine, and USB-C charging.

It feels well built and solid to the touch, not flimsy or cheaply made. The design is very eye-catching with the entire scale blending into a black square in standby mode, and then lighting up when touched. Nice, nice.

Below are some of the pros and cons we have found after 3 months of using this scale.

Who is Timemore?

Timemore is a forward-thinking Chinese company that has quickly earned a respected place among the world’s leading coffee equipment makers. Founded with a vision to blend precision engineering, beautiful design, and everyday usability, Timemore now offers a wide family of products — from award-winning hand grinders to elegant pour-over brewers, kettles, and scales.

What makes Timemore truly remarkable is how they consistently achieve harmony between craftsmanship, functionality, and price. Their grinders, for example, deliver performance and consistency on par with much more expensive competitors, while their attention to design aesthetics sets them apart in the market.

It is rare to see a brand that so naturally combines innovation with accessibility, and Timemore has managed to create that balance in a way that continues to impress coffee lovers around the globe.

The Positives

Compact and lightweight,  perfect for travel or fitting on espresso machine drip trays. Under 200g

Sleek,  the   minimalist design looks amazing on any counter.

Intuitive, with modes for espresso (auto-tare and auto-timer), pour-over, and standard manual use.  It can JUST fit a flask on, if you don't mind some overlap, but works well for AeroPress and a coffee cup for direct brewing.

High precision, Typically accurate and responsive.

USB-C, lasts over a month with daily use. The USB-C port is protected by a flap for accidents on the espresso tray. A durable silicone mat helps with longevity and stability.

The Negatives

Auto-timer mode, maybe not necessary or useful for all home brewers.

Response, at times the scale will struggle to notice you added an extra bean or two, which can be annoying.

Buttons, can be a bit finicky at times, or not now the difference between a short press and longer press. Not normally an issue, but can be.

Thoughts

Overall, this is a very solid choice for people who live a life on the go, or want an espresso scale, since the build is solid, the silicone mat protects it, and the cover for the USB-C gives you peace of mind from spills.
