LA CABRA | COPENHAGEN

NEW KID ON THE BLOCKCHAIN

La Cabra is turning into quite the international affair. With branches in Bangkok, New York and Muscat, along with two in Copenhagen, the Nordhavn shop opened barely a week ago, as of writing.

An ultra stylised brick and concrete space, with roastery behind and shelves swollen with retail goods, the vibe is very much instagram afficionados.

Restaurant exterior with two men seated, motorbike parked. Pink awning, white building.

Service-wise the staff were friendly and knowledgable. Not a hint of snobbery, refreshingly. My natural Pacamara was juicy and clean, and not at all funky like some naturals can be.

The only complaint I would make was the endlessly repetitive music was quite loud, distractingly so, and caused an odd atmosphere. It was almost like a film soundtrack for a wake, and perhaps not conducive to sipping.

With Sensei and Atelier September nearby (and Juno and Prolog across the traintracks), the area between Norhavn and Østerbro is brimming with promise. Perhaps promise of a slightly Berlin-cool crowd, but nonetheless, it is an area on the up, and worth keeping an eye on.

Phad Thai 5 Rod in Chiang Mai isn’t mind-blowing, but it’s reliably the best in town. Tasty noodles for anyone craving classic Thai flavors.
